The Maison Gisèle Pomerleau, Born of a Real Need in the Community
Maison Gisèle Pomerleau was born out of a pressing need for shelter and support for women victims of violence, more specifically domestic violence. It is a 2nd-stage shelter that enables abused women and their children to rebuild their lives in a safe, confidential environment.
Supported by the Centre des femmes de Montréal-Est/Pointe-aux-Trembles, the Maison Gisèle Pomerleau is the brainchild of two women, Dorette Mekamdjio and Gisèle Pomerleau, who have worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition.
